According to mappingpoliceviolence.org, police have killed 839 people in 2020 (Jan-Sept). Black people have been 28% of those killed by police in 2020 despite being only 13% of the population. In this time, there have only been 14 days where police did not kill someone.
The numbers are staggering. We need a cultural shift and a shared mindset - these acts can not be tolerated.
Despite my own negative emotions around this issue, I believe we can effect change through positive reinforcement. We can and must hold police accountable to humane practices and actions.
