Living Memories:  World COVID Memorial

Create Protest artist Marcos Lutyens, in support of The World Health Organization and in partnership with Global Scrub Choir, has created a multisensory live and augmented reality experience for reflection and inspiration to honor lives lost from COVID and to support the signing of the Pandemic Accord by 194 nations.

This augmented reality experience will be launched on September 17, 2023, 8 am–noon at New York City’s Central Park, in collaboration with the World Health Organization’s signature #healthforall "Walk the Talk" event. The project will then take place at the Lincoln Center main plaza at 12:30pm on September 23.

The unique work honors lives lost in the pandemic as a living memory experience. It invites us to pause and reflect. It inspires us to move forward in a resolution for a more equitable and healthier world. The Living Memories World COVID Tribute is enhanced by an augmented reality cloud of floating roses which double as dedications to people who have lost their lives to COVID. It is paired with the sonorous voices of Global Scrub Choir in the AR space and live.

In commemoration of the launch of the new World COVID Tribute, Create Protest is offering a line of merchandise featuring Lutyens’ concept drawing. A portion of the proceeds supports the installation of the artwork.
